Aims
The Indonesian Law Journal (ILJ) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing and promoting a deeper understanding of legal developments at the national and international levels. Published by the National Law Development Agency (Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional/BPHN), Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, ILJ provides an academic platform for the dissemination of original research, critical legal analysis, literature review, and scholarly discussions on contemporary legal issues. The journal aims to contribute to the development of legal knowledge, the advancement of legal theory and practice, and the formulation of evidence-based legal policies. ILJ encourages interdisciplinary approaches and constructive academic dialogue that bridge legal scholarship, institutional practices, regulatory development, and emerging challenges in society.
Scope
The Indonesian Law Journal (ILJ) welcomes original and scholarly contributions addressing a broad range of legal issues at national, regional, and international levels. The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
1. Constitutional and Administrative Law: Constitutional principles, state institutions, executive power, administrative governance, public administration, and the protection of constitutional rights;
2. Legislation and Regulatory Policy: Legislative processes, regulatory development, regulatory reform, regulatory impact, legal policy, and the evaluation of laws and regulations;
3. Civil and Commercial Law: Contract law, corporate law, business law, commercial transactions, private law, and emerging legal issues in economic activities;
4. Criminal Law and Criminal Justice: Substantive and procedural criminal law, criminal justice systems, law enforcement, criminal policy, and contemporary developments in criminal justice;
5. International and Transnational Law: Public and private international law, international cooperation, international legal instruments, human rights, and transnational legal challenges;
6. Human Rights and Social Justice: Human rights protection, access to justice, equality, vulnerable groups, and the relationship between law and social development;
7. Technology, Digitalization, and Law: Digital transformation, information technology law, artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity, digital governance, and the legal implications of emerging technologies;
8. Environmental and Natural Resources Law: Environmental protection, sustainable development, natural resource governance, climate-related legal issues, and environmental justice;
9. Legal Pluralism and Living Law: Customary law, living law, legal pluralism, socio-legal developments, and the interaction between formal and informal legal systems;
10. Law, Economics, and Development: Competition law, economic regulation, investment, trade, business and human rights, and the contribution of law to sustainable national development; etc.
The journal welcomes contributions from academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, government officials, and other scholars whose work is relevant to the development of legal knowledge and practice. ILJ accepts manuscripts in the following forms:
- Research Articles: Original research based on doctrinal, empirical, comparative, interdisciplinary, or other appropriate scholarly methodologies.
- Jurisprudence: Scholarly analyses of judicial decisions, legal doctrines, and the development of jurisprudence.
- Literature Reviews: Critical and systematic reviews of relevant legal literature that identify developments, debates, research gaps, and emerging perspectives.
- Case Studies: In-depth examinations of specific legal cases, regulatory practices, institutional experiences, or legal phenomena that provide meaningful academic and practical insights.
Manuscripts must be original, demonstrate academic integrity, and comply with the journal's editorial policies and author guidelines. All submissions are subject to an initial editorial screening and a peer-review process to ensure scholarly quality and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
